Karl Lagerfeld, the creative director and designer who’s worked with Chanel, Fendi, and his eponymous label, has passed away at 85.
There is no cause of death, but multiple outlets have reported and his fashion house confirmed the news. This comes about a month after the fashion industry icon missed Chanel’s spring 2019 haute couture show in Paris on January 22. Following that, rumors of his declining health swirled.

Unkle Karl is quite possibly one of the most recognizable controversial faces in fashion, with his unique white coiffed hair, black sunglasses, and fingerless gloves. In his passing, the German designer also leaves behind his iconic fluffy cat Choupette.
In 2018, the legend drew controversy for his comments on the #MeToo movement that had many models and activists upset. He said, among other things:
“What shocks me most in all of this are the starlets who have taken 20 years to remember what happened. Not to mention the fact there are no prosecution witnesses.”
