Over the weekend, the Empire State of Mind artist’s mother, Gloria Carter, said “I do” to the love of her life — Roxanne Wiltshire! That’s right, according to TMZ, the Carter family matriarch happily wed her longtime partner Sunday night in New York City, where the guest list was poppin!

During a roundtable conversation with Revolt TV, alongside Kelly Rowland, H.E.R., Winnie Harlow, and Tina Knowles-Lawson, Michelle explained it started when Barack was building his political career, and she was primarily looking after their very young daughters, Malia and Sasha:

“We don’t talk about how much work is required and how hard it is even when you are madly in love with the person, even when everything works out right. Bringing two lives together, it is one of the hardest things to do … People think I’m being catty by saying this — it’s like, there were 10 years where I couldn’t stand my husband. And guess when it happened? When those kids were little. And for 10 years while we’re trying to build our careers and, you know, worrying about school and who’s doing what and what, I was like, ‘Ugh, this isn’t even.’”

Shortly after posting the snapshots, her kids sadly began to receive criticism from some social media users in the comments section about their bodies, with some questioning whether or not Jessie used Photoshop to put abs on them. However, she was not going to stand for the remarks and did not hold back when clapping back at them in the comments! One person first commented on the picture, saying:

“That doesn’t look right … Sorry, not sorry.”

To which the country artist replied:

“It’s a sad world we live in today when having healthy fit kids who are super active, play sports [and] build muscle naturally is ‘weird.’”

When someone commented, “surely this is an app but I don’t see anyone saying as much,” Jessie fired back:

“yeah I used an ‘ab’ app on my small children wtf.”

Another critic then slammed the three children for having abdominal muscles, calling them “strange”:

“My kids are super active and do not look ripped. This takes a special kind of diet and exercise and it looks strange on a child hence all the comments.”

She responded alongside a heart emoji:

“From one mother to another. Please don’t call my children’s appearance strange just because they don’t look the way you think they should? It’s unkind.”

It’s terrible that so many people had negative things to say about her kids. Awful… Fortunately, not everyone in the comments section had critical comments. Selma Blair – who competed with Jessie on season 31 of Dancing With the Stars – pointed out how much “fun” Vivianne, Eric Jr., and Forrest seemed to be having:

“I love these smiles. The strength. So in their bodies. Fun goals.”

As we reported, the Destiny’s Child singer ruffled a LOT of feathers on Sunday night at the American Music Awards when she accepted the Favorite Male R&B Artist award for the Kiss Kiss vocalist, who was not in attendance after his wildly inappropriate Michael Jackson tribute was axed.

Despite his win, the audience was clearly not a fan and actually booed when it was announced he’d taken home the award. Well, Miz Rowland wasn’t going to stand by and let this happen so she shut down the negativity and made a scene of supporting Chris. And, yeah, social media had a field day with the viral moment!

After this kind of fallout, it would have been fairly normal for Kelly to start walking back on her strong stance to avoid taking any more heat, but instead, she doubled down! On Monday, TMZ caught the 41-year-old out and about in West Hollywood and asked to get her take on the drama. While getting into her car, a paparazzo approached Kelly and asked if she finds it “sad” to see people “bullying” Chris for his past behavior. She quickly replied:

“I believe that grace is very real, and we all need a dose of it. Before we point fingers at anybody, we should realize how grateful we are for every moment that we get. Even our own things that we have, I just think it’s important to remember to be human. We are humans!”

Yes, we should all be grateful, but… “pointing fingers”? It’s not like people are making up things about Chris! He pleaded guilty to abusing Rihanna in 2009 and served five years of probation for the assault. He is literally a convicted domestic abuser!

Also, let’s not forget that he has continuously been accused of abuse, as recently as in 2020 and 2021, too. So, it’s not just his past coming back to haunt him but his alleged recent actions, as well. Just saying.

All that said, the photographer then asked if the Think Like A Man star feels like the crooner needs to be “forgiven” by the public, to which she dished:

“We all need to be forgiven for anything that we could be doing. Anything that we’re thinking. We all come up short in some sort of way, and grace is real. And we are humans and everybody deserves grace. Period.”

Huh…

Is she really shaming people for not being able to forgive and forget the actions of an abuser?? It’s one thing for her — and even Rihanna, who publicly forgave her ex during a 2020 interview on Oprah Winfrey‘s SuperSoul Conversations podcast — to not hold a grudge for what the 33-year-old did, but it’s not really anyone’s right to tell someone else how to feel. Especially when they haven’t proven they have truly changed.

By now, you’ve probably seen the viral finger-wagging clip of Kelly Rowland silencing boos from the audience at Sunday night’s American Music Awards after she announced the musician won the award for Favorite Male R&B Artist. He, of course, wasn’t in attendance so she accepted the honor on his behalf while standing up for him against the hate.

But if only he had Kelly in his corner earlier in the week!

As it turns out, Chris was supposed to be at the glitzy music event over the weekend — and not just in the audience. He was scheduled to take the stage during a TV event for the first time since the #MeToo movement hit Hollywood. It would’ve been his first televised performance since the 2017 BET Awards. A pretty big deal, especially since he (a convicted domestic abuser) was going to be honoring Michael Jackson… who has faced disturbing child molestation accusations. Oof. What a problematic pairing…

Ahead of the performance, journalist Matthew Belloni for Puck News reached out to Disney and ABC to get the 411 on the controversial tribute — only to learn the higher-ups (somehow) had no clue this was happening, inciting major drama behind the scenes of the live show. Yeesh!

According to multiple sources on both sides of the issue who spoke to the outlet on Sunday, Jesse Collins and Stephen Hill, who executive produced the show for Dick Clark Productions, were working with CB and his team on a medley of MJ hits with Ciara and other artists to honor the 40th anniversary of Thriller.

But also on the setlist? Beat It. Which, you know, is a bold AF choice considering Brown plead guilty to physically assaulting his then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009. He’s also been accused of several other instances of abuse (including allegedly hitting another woman as recently as last year). Seeing him perform a song with that title would have been wildly insensitive and ripe for controversy!

But, apparently, the EPs (especially Hill ,who had a good relationship with the songwriter after being a former programming chief at BET) were excited to give the singer a chance to return to TV, especially after hearing him complain in August about being shadow-banned from the industry for his past behavior. But was this really the best decision on Disney’s part??

Well, Matthew wanted to know just that and decided to call for a comment last weekend, but instead of getting answers, he ended up opening a can of worms. Apparently, Disney/ABC execs had no clue about these performance plans. ABC Entertainment president Craig Erwich was then alerted and Rob Mills, the network’s head of alternative and specials, went back to the producers to nix the plan. Per Puck’s sources, Collins and Hill were furious. In a call with Mills, they explained the backlash they assumed they’d get from Chris and his massive following if they axed the tribute. This led to a major debate between Erwich, Mills, the Disney/ABC PR team, and Felicia Joseph, head of ABC talent. Even Disney TV chief Dana Walden was briefed on the drama. Damn!

Interestingly, despite the many allegations against the 33-year-old crooner, Disney wasn’t against him taking the stage, they just didn’t like the preplanned tribute since the content was likely going to create a massive scandal. Instead, they suggested the producers find a way to include a performance from Chris more thoughtfully — but the artist, who had already been rehearsing, had no interest in changing things up, which the EPs assumed would be the case.

After the tribute was canned, the singer went on to slam the AMAs on social media. While sharing rehearsal footage on Instagram, he wrote on Friday:

“WOULDVE been the ama performance but they cancelled me for reasons unknown.”

Well, the reasons weren’t unknown at all!

And if Chris really wanted to perform, he likely could have since a non-Jackson workaround was on the table if he was game. But, alas, he wasn’t. Meanwhile, Ciara did switch things up and instead presented an award at the show. According to the outlet, D.C.P. president Adam Stotsky apologized to the House of Mouse for any miscommunication, while a rep told Puck:

“Live shows change all the time, it’s the nature of this business. Unfortunately, this element of the AMAs didn’t come together as we couldn’t align on the performance, to no fault of Chris Brown.”

Hmm. Kinda seems like it IS his fault though! We mean, his history of abuse was part of the problem! ABC has yet to comment on the scandal. It’s hard to imagine anyone would’ve thought this tribute — and especially the inclusion of the song Beat It — would have been an appropriate way for Chris to return to TV! The Destiny’s Child alum took to the stage on Sunday night at the American Music Awards to present the Favorite Male R&B Artist category. After reading the nominees, she opened the enveloped and crowned the Under The Influence singer as the winner. But fans on social media were focused on what went down immediately after that!!

The 33-year-old recording artist was not at the show to accept his AMA win. So, Kelly told the crowd she’d accept the honor on his behalf. However, some audience members could be heard booing over Brown’s selection as the show’s favorite male R&B crooner. And they jeered through Kelly’s revelation!

Not content to let fans yell while she was on stage, the 41-year-old star told audience members to “chill out” while she was delivering a message to Chris. At first, Kelly started to show gratitude to the singer before cutting off fans in the audience and wagging her finger at the crowd over their negative reactions:

“Now Chris Brown is not here tonight, so I am accepting this award on his behalf. Excuse me! Chill out.”

Oof!

Then, she gushed over Brown’s music. Telling the singer “I love you,” she added:

“But I want to tell Chris, thank you so much for making great R&B music, and I want to tell him thank you for being an incredible performer. I’ll take this award [and] bring it to you. I love you. Congratulations, and congratulations to all the nominees in this category.”

Wow…

Quite a favorable attitude towards a man who has repeatedly been accused of violence against women! (And plenty of other s**t, too.) And Kelly’s finger-wagging shutdown of fans who voiced their displeasure was a memorable moment on its own. You can see the viral clip go down (below):

Not a great look to see a woman defending a man convicted of domestic abuse! Over on Twitter, viewers reacted to Rowland’s jaw-dropping defense of Brown, where many were up in arms over the unfortunate situation, as you can see (below):

Of course, Brown has found himself under fire multiple times during his career. Back in 2009, he chose to plea guilty to a felony following a domestic violence incident with Rihanna. He was placed on probation for several years and was ordered to complete community service as part of the plea.

Another ex-girlfriend, Karrueche Tran, accused Brown in 2017 of allegedly punching her in the stomach and pushing her down a flight of stairs while they dated in the early 2010s. Brown denied those accusations at the time. Still, Tran was granted a five-year restraining order against the Call Me Every Day singer over the alleged incident.

Brown was also sued for allegedly drugging and raping a woman in 2020, and accused of allegedly hitting another woman in 2021. An investigation into that latter allegation was later dropped due to insufficient evidence.

Per Page Six and others, Brown had apparently been scheduled to perform at the AMAs before his slot on the show was apparently nixed. Earlier in the weekend, he took to Instagram to reveal video from what appeared to be a rehearsal for the show. “U SERIOUS?” he wrote in the caption of the clip (HERE), with followers lamenting in the comments how his performance was scrapped.

As we reported early Tuesday morning, the Migos rapper was reportedly fatally shot early Tuesday morning in Houston, Texas. Apparently, the 28-year-old, whose real name is Kirshnik Khari Ball, as well as his uncle and fellow Migos rapper, Quavo, were playing a game of dice at 810 Billiards & Bowling when an altercation occurred inside the building, which led to a shooting. The late rapper had unfortunately already passed by the time law enforcement arrived.

Now, following the unbelievable news, industry members have begun paying tribute to the young artist on social media. Rapper Desiigner cried out in an emotional Instagram live:

“Why? Why? Why do we do this? Why do we do this? Why do we f**king do this? I swear this shit ain’t nothing. I’m done rap. It’s done, it’s done, it’s done, it’s done. Not to Takeoff, bro. It’s done. Y’all wanted it. It’s over. Y’all wanted it? It’s over.”
