As you know, the 36-year-old YouTuber, known for her character Miranda Sings, has been under fire lately after allegations of grooming young fans, racism, and more have come out. Things are not looking good for her, especially as yet another person has come forward with their horrific experience with Colleen when they were just a minor. Someone named Grant took to TikTok on Tuesday after realizing he was a “Miranda Sings victim.” The social media user recalled how he went to one of her shows when he was 15 years old and was called up on stage to perform a skit with Colleen on “what to do on a first date.”

Grant included a video of their onstage bit, which showed Colleen inappropriately flirting with the teen. She also put a bag of Cheetos down her pants, and had him grab some at one point. So, so wrong. And that’s not all. Colleen then had him kiss her on the cheek and called him “attractive.” Yeah, she did this with a 15-year-old. Looking back, Grant definitely realized how “inappropriate” the moment was:

“Looking back, I don’t have any negative feelings toward it. I was very much in on it and loved the attention. But I would never – if I was in her position – I would never call a minor up onstage and say and do some of the stuff that she did. Never. I’m glad that in my brain then I was confident enough to know that this is a bit, we’re just acting, we’re entertaining people. But still, that is so inappropriate. She even says she’s not a pedophile, crazy.”

As we mentioned before, this is just the latest racism allegation and offensive video to resurface amid her scandal. She has been at the center of controversy, as former fans have accused her of grooming, encouraging bullying, and discussing sexual topics with minors. Colleen also has been accused of being racist on the set of her Netflix show Haters Back Off. There’s also a video circulating of her performing in what appears to be blackface. Colleen Ballinger is clapping back! On Thursday, the internet personality’s legal reps denied claims she was dressed “in blackface” during a resurfaced performance of Single Ladies in a statement to Variety. In the viral video, it appeared she had dark-colored paint on her face – and she did, per her legal team at the law firm Berk Brettler, but it wasn’t what it seemed.

They claim just before belting Single Ladies in 2009, Colleen took the stage with Oliver Tompsett to sing As Long As You’re Mine from Wicked. In honor of the musical, she painted her face green like Elphaba. She kept this same paint on as she immediately transitioned into performing Beyoncé’s song, which she always ended her shows with at the time because it was one of her most popular bits. Amid allegations of racism and grooming young fans, the Miranda Sings star on YouTube is now coming under fire for seemingly wearing blackface in a resurfaced video. In a new clip circulating online, the comedian can be seen performing Beyoncé‘s hit Single Ladies with two others on stage. They all wear black bodysuits, but it’s just Colleen whose face is painted black.

The original video was actually posted on Miranda Sings’ official YT page in February 2018. It is only viewable thanks to a link released in her book, My Diarrhe, which may be why it didn’t generate a ton of backlash until now. It appears she gave the inappropriate AF performance during one of her comedy shows at the time.

This is never a good look, but it is made even more problematic knowing the string of other gross and disturbing allegations levied against the star in recent weeks. If you’ve been following this scandal, you’ll know this all began when a former fan, Adam McIntyre, called Colleen out for allegedly grooming young viewers, encouraging bullying, and asking minors about their sex lives, among other things. The 36-year-old clapped back by releasing a 10-minute video in which she addressed the claims via a cringe-worthy and tone-deaf ukulele song — no apology in sight!

Her former friend and collaborator, Trisha Paytas, then publicly blasted her while revealing Colleen used to share explicit photos of her with fans and hold viewing parties to mock her body. And this happened somewhat recently as she noted the influencer was “well into their 30s who just gave birth.” JFC. Also, April Korto Quioh, a former assistant to the writers and showrunner for Haters Back Off, the content creator’s two-season show with Netflix, spoke out. In a scathing blog post titled You Owe Me An Apology, April slammed the internet personality for alleged racism and inappropriate behavior on set.

For example, the assistant claimed Colleen allegedly insisted the show have limited background actors of color since the series took place in Washington and she thought it’d be “distracting” to have them around. She also demanded an Asian food market be “re-dressed as a bodega for the show and watched her disgust as she demanded assurance that all the ‘Asian s**t’ would be removed before filming.” WTF.

When addressing why all the leads of the show were white, April noted:

“I sat patiently as the Powers That Be expressed concern that the entire main cast for the show was white and silently prayed that since someone with some actual say had spoken up, things might change. And I took note, yet again, as Colleen assured them that they had only casted the best person for each role and that it wasn’t her fault that all of those people ended up being white.”

It gets worse, too. April included alleged screenshots of texts she sent a friend about the aforementioned audition process. In them, April recalls Colleen allegedly yelling out “Where is he” — “implying he is so dark skinned he disappeared.” She continued:

“I recall overhearing her once brag that a creator was being ‘cancelled’ for saying the n-word (and if you think she went with ‘n-word’ instead of hitting that hard ‘r’ then you haven’t been paying attention) and that she would never be stupid enough to get caught doing something like that.”

And now she’s seen performing in what appears to be blackface. Yikes. She better not address this with a freaking ukulele remix because these very serious accusations deserve an equally serious response! Reactions, Perezcious readers?

Of course, Elon Musk recently (and very controversially) bought the social media app. And he’s been implementing changes ever since that have been, uh, interesting. Those include laying off a ton of staffers, canning lots of content moderation tools, and holding back workers’ ability to tamp down on racism, bigotry, misinformation, and much more.

Most recently, on the very last day of June, Musk announced on the site that verified users would be capped at reading 6,000 posts per day, with unverified users only able to read 600 posts. Those numbers, which Musk said were necessary caps due to “extreme levels of data scraping and system manipulation, ” have since been raised slightly. But still, it’s all definitely controversial considering Twitter’s whole thing was that you could scroll forever (and ever, and ever, and ever…).

Late on Saturday night, Jauregui took to Twitter to talk about Musk’s latest moves. In a thought-provoking tweet, she noted that the changes may be coming about ahead of America’s looming national campaign and election cycle. Of course, that is set to start rolling out soon and only get WAY more intense over the next 15 months.

Jauregui stated:

“I just wanna say Elon destroying twitter ahead of elections is not a coincidence. Especially considering what his obvious political stance is. This place was one of our most effective organizing tools during 2020 and is where a lot of discourse and accountability happens.”

Then, the singer added:

“Please understand nothing these billionaires do is ever a coincidence. Slowly but surely is the game, so we are apathetic instead of paying attention. When everything feels random and confusing, just know it is anything but. Just connect the dots.”

Damn! That’s very thought provoking, indeed. And it may not be wrong?!

After all, why would misinformation, fascism, and a bunch of other unsavory s**t run rampant on Twitter right now if there weren’t some underlying purpose for it all?! Especially when all the other popular social media sites (hello, Reddit) are cleaning up their acts to be more attractive to (a) investors or buyers, (b) IPOs, and (c) normal people who are burned out on bigotry and just want to post without getting shouted down by weirdos. More accusations have come out about Colleen Ballinger’s inappropriate behavior.

For those who don’t know, the 36-year-old YouTube creator is best known for portraying Miranda Sings. After gaining success on social media, she took her character to Netflix to star in a series called Haters Back Off. It ran for two seasons starting in 2016. And lately, Colleen has been at the center of controversy after people have come forward with allegations of grooming, talking about sexual topics with young fans, and encouraging bullying.

And now, a former assistant to the writers and showrunner for Haters Back Off named April Korto Quioh has come forward about her behavior on set – and there are some disgusting and concerning details. You can see what she had to say about her time working with Colleen (below):

First Impression

On Friday, April dropped a post on her blog called You Owe Me An Apology, where she recalled her time on set with Colleen. She shared that she was hired as a “Writers’ Assistant/Showrunner’s Assistant/Writers’ PA” for Haters Back Off, and the show was her “first real job in Hollywood.”

When she was hired, April did not know anything about Miranda Sings, so she took it upon herself to look up some videos the night before her first day on set. And let’s just say, she was shocked by what she found:

“I clicked on her YouTube channel and watched video after video in pure confusion. Isn’t this supposed to be for kids? She was dressed like Bozo the Clown but she kept making odd jokes about being, well, molested, and in one clip, I saw her on stage, encouraging what appeared to be a small child to literally reach into her pants and rummage around a bit. I texted my friends, hoping one of them could explain her appeal to me because clearly I was missing something.”

And her opinion of Colleen only worsened when they met for the first time:

“Upon meeting Colleen, my first impression of her was that she was boisterous, opinionated, and had a stunning lack of humility that was unlike anything I had ever seen. Immediately upon entering the writers’ room, I was treated to story after story about her sold out shows, how obsessed her fans were with her and the lengths they would go to get her attention.”

That sounds like a bragger! Elsewhere in the piece, April also noted how Colleen often allegedly made “biting comments” about those on set and often had a “lack of boundaries” with everyone, including her:

“She had a knack for making ‘funny,’ biting comments about the people around her and since we all had her to thank for our jobs, we were forced to just go with it. She saw no issue with commenting on my hair, or my clothes, or asking about my personal life. Her lack of boundaries was remarkable.”

But that’s only half of what April had to witness on set…

Incest & Rape jokes

When it came time to pitch stories for the show, April claimed Colleen often wanted to include references to incest. She allegedly pitched plotlines about Miranda and her uncle’s “special relationship,” where they “would be caught in compromising positions or stomach-churning moments of intimacy.” WTF?! As April said in the post:

“She often pitched stories in which Miranda and Uncle Jim would be caught in compromising positions or stomach-churning moments of intimacy that could always be easily explained away by a clueless Miranda. It was my responsibility to write down every single one of these pitches, schedule calls to look at mockups of The Daddy Saddle [a prop that Miranda would use to ride on her uncle’s back] that would be featured on the show, and mark points in the script where Colleen thought we could make Uncle Jim even more ‘r***y.’”

Again… What the actual f**k? Mind you, this show was meant for her fans – many of whom were minors! Her suggestions for her Miranda and uncle’s character made April “so, so uncomfortable.” However, she was still tasked with helping Colleen as the content creator tried “shoving as much incestual innuendo into the show as possible while assuaging the growing behind-the-scenes concerns that the show would be alienating to the intended audience (which was, again, kids.) April continued:

“It all felt deeply wrong – she would show us photos of the packed rows of smiling children who had attended her show the night before, and in the same breath, spend hours trying to think of a way to show Miranda and Uncle Jim all but having actual sex on screen.”

OMG…

Racism

According to April, she not only had to type “‘jokes’ into the script that to a vulnerable child, could easily make it nearly impossible to identify inappropriate adult behavior in their own lives,” but she also had to deal with a ton of racism on set. Awful.

She recalled one instance where she sat in on a production meeting to take notes about Colleen allegedly insisting that the show have limited background actors of color as the show took place in Washington – and the influencer also thought it would be “distracting” to have them on set. That is just so beyond messed up. And there are unfortunately more instances of her racist comments. She then remembered a time when she allegedly caught Colleen saying the N-word:

“I recall overhearing her once brag that a creator was being ‘cancelled’ for saying the n-word (and if you think she went with ‘n-word’ instead of hitting that hard ‘r’ then you haven’t been paying attention) and that she would never be stupid enough to get caught doing something like that.”

Just vile. April — who was also the only Black person in the office — also mentioned how she often felt Colleen “took a weird pleasure in making me uncomfortable and knowing that even if I wanted to, there was absolutely nothing I could do about it.” For instance, she alleged that Colleen “gave me the ‘honor'” of creating a villain character named after her and would “often pitch something vile and then look over to me and ask, “Any thoughts, April?”

No one should have to experience these type of despicable things on set. At this time, Colleen has not addressed the accusations about her behind-the-scenes behavior on set. For those who haven’t heard, Pat Sajak announced earlier this month that he will be retiring from Wheel of Fortune after its forthcoming 41st season. It was later revealed that Ryan Seacrest would be taking over the position. He told fans about how he was “truly humbled” to be joining the show, writing:

“I can say, along with the rest of America that it’s been a privilege and pure joy to watch Pat and Vanna on our television screens for an unprecedented 40 years, making us smile every night and feel right at home with them.”

So with Pat retiring and Ryan taking over next year, all eyes have been on the longtime star of the show Vanna White. The 66-year-old has been co-hosting Wheel of Fortune since 1982. For forty-one years, she has remained a main fixture on the game show and doesn’t seem to be leaving anytime soon. The American Idol host indicated in his statement about the new job that she would be staying on as his co-host.

However, Ryan may have spoken too soon! Because Vanna now refuses to continue with the series – unless she starts earning at least half of what Pat was making! Over the weekend, a report from The Puck revealed that the hostess allegedly has not received a raise in 18 years (!!!) for her role on Wheel of Fortune. According to the outlet, she made $3 million a year while Pat earned roughly five times as much. The exact number will leave your jaws on the floor: TMZ reports he is receiving $15 million a year!

Sorry, WHAT?!!!

Puck noted that Vanna received some bonuses over the years but that’s still nothing in comparison to Pat’s annual salary! These two are the leads of the show. In fact, they’re introduced on Wheel of Fortune as, “Here are the stars of our show, Pat Sajak and Vanna White.” So they’re considered equals when the cameras are rolling but not when it comes time to issuing their paychecks. What a raw deal! The fact that Vanna is making significantly less than her male counterpart and has not received a single raise in nearly two decades when she is the face of the show is terrible.

But Vanna has had enough of the unfair treatment! Puck reported that she recently hired an “aggressive new lawyer” to help her fight for a pay raise when her deal ends at the end of the 2023-2024 season. Negotiations have already begun – though it doesn’t sound to be going well!

TMZ reported on Thursday that the television personality is threatening to quit the show if she doesn’t start earning at least half of what Pat is making soon. A source close to Vanna said:

“After 41 years as a model employee and more the face of that show than him [Pat], asking for 50% of what he makes seems like a no-brainer.”

However, Sony allegedly isn’t willing to give her what she wants right now. One insider said that negotiations have been “very difficult.” Seriously? It should not be this hard for Sony to give Vanna more money. As TMZ noted, Vanna and her attorney, Bryan Freedman, aren’t even asking to close the pay gap between the co-hosts and also give her $15 million each year! She’s negotiating for HALF that amount after not receiving a raise in 18 years! Her demands are not ridiculous. And let’s be real, she should be earning more than what she’s even asking to begin with. So what gives, Sony?!

Although Vanna wants to stay on Wheel of Fortune, there’s a strong chance she’ll walk out the door if she does not receive “a minimum of what is fair.” But she doesn’t seem to be giving up the battle! A source noted that Vanna believes this issue is way bigger than her, saying:

“She feels like it’s a statement for all women.”

On Friday, the 42-year-old reality star hopped on Twitter to ask her 74.9 million followers “what [they were] all up to” while she had “some time between shots” for season 12 of American Horror Story. The problem with her seemingly innocuous tweet? Since the beginning of May, thousands of screenwriters involved with the WGA have been protesting after the union was unable to reach a contract with the trade association that represents Hollywood studios and production companies.

The WGA was making some pretty reasonable demands – including asking for higher minimum sales, shorter exclusive contracts for released content, and more. They also want to make sure studios won’t start replacing them with AI. All of these terms the WGA have argued are essential after streaming took over the entertainment industry. So it seems like some simple requests, right? Well, the studios were unwilling to accept these conditions, and thus writers have been striking ever since.

While many stars in Hollywood have shown their support for the writers, that hasn’t stopped everyone from crossing the picket line and continuing to film. And AHS is one of many Ryan Murphy projects that have proceeded with production. So when Kim asked her fans what everyone was doing while she was on the set of the television show, many striking writers and supporters flooded her comments section to blast her. They wrote:

“Picketing, Kim.”

“You need to get a refund on that law degree, and fire every person that told you it was a good idea to tweet this.”

As Perezcious readers know, Harry and Meghan Markle ended their partnership with Spotify last week after signing a reported $20 million deal back in 2020. Why in the world didn’t they produce more? And how come Harry never released a show of his own? These are the questions on everyone’s minds right now — and we’re finally getting some more scoop!

Several sources told Bloomberg on Thursday that the Duke of Sussex did pitch several ideas for podcasts of his own — but they were completely unreasonable!

According to those in the know, who asked to be anonymous since they weren’t supposed to be talking about the Sussexes’ work, Harry spoke with several producers and production houses about show ideas he had. The 38-year-old was also pitched concepts from podcast professionals, but, for the most part, he preferred his ideas. Which maybe wasn’t the best move!

The number 1 idea the Invictus Games founder had was to host a show about childhood trauma. And more specifically, he wanted to interview lots of controversial guests — like Vladimir Putin, Mark Zuckerberg, and Donald Trump — about their early years to figure out how they became the adults they are today.

On the one hand, a show about childhood trauma makes perfect sense coming from Harry! After everything he’s been through after losing his mom, Princess Diana, so young and growing up in the public eye, we can understand why this was of interest. But interviewing people like Trump?! Do we really need to be giving such controversial people more of a platform? Not to mention one that seems to glorify them? Uh-uh!

Most of the people Harry pitched this series to were skeptical he could even make it work since the figures he wanted to chat with rarely give interviews — let alone ones that break down their childhoods! It was way too far-fetched!

As for other ideas he had, some seemed really doable. One idea was for a show centered around fatherhood while another would focus on large societal conversations (such as climate change and religion). Harry hoped to have Pope Francis on as a guest. Again, seems like a difficult person to book — even for a prince!

Probably because some of these ideas were too complicated, Harry never ended up releasing a podcast of his own. Which is still so shocking! It would have been relatively easy for him to chat about mental health or various social causes — heck, he could’ve hired other staffers to do all the interviewing for him like Meghan is rumored to have done! But, instead, he just collected his bag for as little effort as possible. Sigh.

In a new interview with GQ Hype Spain published on Tuesday, the singer said they got tired of explaining the meaning behind their gender-neutral pronouns to people, sharing:

“I constantly had to educate people and explain why I identified with those pronouns. It was absolutely exhausting.”

We can understand why that’d be frustrating! But is it reason enough not to use the pronouns you most identify with?? Apparently for her!

The pop star continued:

“I just got tired. But for that very reason I know that it is important to continue spreading the word.”

The Sonny With a Chance alum went on to say she wishes there were more gender-neutral spaces for everyone because she’s found herself conflicted over basic amenities like sex-assigned bathrooms and paperwork. They dished:

“I face this every day. For example, in public toilets. Having to access the women’s bathroom, even though I don’t completely identify with it. Or it also happens when filling out forms, such as government documents or any other where you have to specify your gender. You only have two options, male and female, and I feel like none of that makes sense to me.”

The 30-year-old went on to say she feels “conditioned” to select “woman” because there are no other options, explaining:

“I think this has to change. Hopefully with time there will be more options.”

That said, she is still very confident in how she identifies and does her best to ignore the hate, noting:

“It will be worth it as long as there are people who tell me that I am an inspiration to them or that I have helped them learn more about themselves and feel more comfortable in their skin. That’s the most meaningful thing to me. There are queer couples who have gotten engaged at my concerts and that’s really special.”

“The safe space that I have created in the industry is proof of the safe space that I have also created in my life. And I think that no matter what sector you are in, you have to be comfortable to evolve. I’ve spent years selecting the right people and I’ve finally found my tribe.”

Good to hear! If you don’t recall, the Substance vocalist came out as non-binary in May 2021. At the time, they said on their podcast 4D with Demi Lovato:

“With that said, I’ll officially be changing my pronouns to ‘they/them.’ I feel this best represents the fluidity I feel in my gender expression and allows me to feel most authentic and true to the person I both know I am and still am discovering.”

Over a year later, the Heart Attack artist updated her pronouns to include “she/her” again because she was feeling “more feminine.” And we guess she was also sick of explaining herself or being misgendered!

Appearing on the Spout podcast in August 2022, she opened up further about pronouns, musing:

“But I think what’s important is, like, nobody’s perfect. Everyone messes up pronouns at some point, and especially when people are learning. It’s just all about respect.”

As you can imagine, not everyone on the internet was loving her new take on pronouns, and they made sure to hash out their opinions on Demi’s decision, writing on Twitter:

“Our community is already a JOKE to some people — so here’s another reason why people will never take us seriously. Period. End of story.”

“Convenient that she changes her pronouns now with all recent the anti-LGBTQ stuff that’s been happening”

“If it was authentic then she wouldn’t have found it exhausting. Trust me, it’s exhausting for all of us..”

Meanwhile, there were some Lovatics who understood what their idol was trying to say, one person pointed out:

“i’m very glad they spoke out about this. most people just think they ‘went back’ to being strictly she/her, and that was never the case. being so publicly scrutinized will never be easy.”

It’s certainly a complicated topic, and at the end of the day, everyone has to do what makes them feel like the best version of themselves. On Tuesday, Starbucks Workers United took to Twitter to reveal their displeasure at the supposed ban. However, a spokesperson for the company straight-up denied there was any ban at all — so what’s going on?!

This all started with a series of tweets posted by the union’s official account on Tuesday morning. In a thread posted for their nearly 100,000 Twitter followers, the union claimed (below):

“BREAKING: In the middle of Pride Month, Starbucks BANS Pride decorations in stores across the United States. For the last two weeks, Starbucks workers have taken to social media to report that the company is no longer allowing Pride decorations in-store. This seems to be the first year the publicly ‘pro-LGBTQ+’ company has taken this kind of stance.”

Then, while referencing retail giant Target — another national brand that has altered their Pride merchandise and displays for political reasons in recent weeks — the union went on:

“Taking a cue from Target, who bowed to anti-LGBTQ+ pressure and removed pride merchandise, corporate and district management are taking down the pride decorations that have become an annual tradition in stores. In union stores, where Starbucks claims they are unable to make ‘unilateral changes’ without bargaining, the company took down Pride decorations and flags anyway — ignoring their own anti-union talking point.”

The union also used this apparent ban as evidence for the coffee company’s apparent disregard for the LGBTQ+ community. They cited prior instances where health benefits for transgender workers were apparently abruptly affected by changes to Starbucks’ insurance policies:

“Starbucks is powered by many queer workers, but management has failed to materially support the LGBTQ+ community. Last October, some workers have reported that their transgender benefit plan changed, causing them to pay out of pocket fees and lose access to certain providers. If Starbucks was a true ally, they would stand up for us, especially during a time when LGBTQ+ people are under attack. A company that cares wouldn’t turn their back on the LGBTQ+ community to protect their already astronomically high profits.”

It’s not just a Twitter thread making that claim about stores banning Pride displays, either. Late last week, that union also filed an official labor complaint against the corporation with the National Labor Relations Board.

Them reported on that filing, which claimed Starbucks bosses allegedly “unilaterally eliminated and/or prohibited” workers from putting up any Pride decorations at unionized coffee shops in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. That outlet reports Starbucks’ management team also “refused to bargain with the union about the decision” after allegedly banning the Pride decorations in the first place.

Per the Daily Beast, a spokesperson for Starbucks Workers United claimed coffee shop employees in Oklahoma City were banned from putting up Pride decorations because “it was a safety issue related to the recent attacks on Target.” That outlet also reports workers at coffee shops in Massachusetts were told they “didn’t have any labor hours to decorate for Pride.”

But for what it’s worth, the company denies these claims. Starbucks spokesperson Andrew Trull spoke to the New Republic about the allegations on Tuesday, and said the brand stands with LGBTQIA+ employees and customers:

“We unwaveringly support the LGBTQIA2+ community. There has been no change to any policy on this matter and we continue to encourage our store leaders to celebrate with their communities including for US Pride month in June.”

Trull went on to voice his concern over the “false information” being spread about Starbucks:

“We’re deeply concerned by false information that is being spread especially as it relates to our inclusive store environments, our company culture, and the benefits we offer our partners.”

Wow.

Between this controversy, the aforementioned decision by Target to pull LGBT-friendly merchandise, and things like the Bud Light boycott related to the fallout from transgender star Dylan Mulvaney‘s alignment with that brand, it’s definitely an unsettling time right now in America.
