The long search is over!
Disney cast its net wide to try to find the perfect Mulan for their live action remake — and we think they might have nailed it!
Fitting all the requirements — being ethnically Chinese, able to act in English, and having movie star charisma — is actress Liu Yifei, also known as Crystal Liu and in China as “Fairy Sister.”

Liu mostly acts in Chinese films, but she has performed in English before, such as in 2014’s Outcast with Hayden Christensen and the 2008 Jackie Chan classic The Forbidden Kingdom (above) in which she also proved she could handle a sword!
You might also recognize Liu from her work as a brand ambassador for Christian Dior, Tissot, Garnier, and Pantene.
Disney‘s live action Mulan is being helmed by Whale Rider director Niki Caro and hits theaters November 2, 2018!
