Earlier this week, an emotional video of the 69-year-old actor tearfully watching his old stunts alongside a woman many thought was his daughter went viral. It’s a super touching moment between a father and daughter. But here’s the thing… This clip? It’s really a scene from a movie!

When the video circulated on social media, many mistakenly believed that it was Jackie looking back on his career with his real-life child. However, the girl in the clip is not his daughter, she’s an actress named Liu Haocun. The scene is actually from one of his recent movies called Ride On, in which he portrayed a former stuntman. They used Jackie’s real-life reel as the character’s — perfect to watch wistfully with his onscreen kid. The blend of reality and fiction was so well done it managed to fool everyone on the internet into thinking he had such a beautiful bond with his daughter.

In actuality, though, Jackie doesn’t have a great relationship with his real daughter Etta Ng Chok Lam. In fact, they don’t have one at all! For those who don’t know, the Rush Hour star had an affair in 1999 with former pageant queen Elaine Ng Yi-lei — while he was still married to his wife Joan Lin. Elaine ended up getting pregnant with Etta.

But Jackie has been estranged from the child for years! And things haven’t improved between them lately…

In 2018, Etta accused her “homophobic parents” (including Jackie) of abandoning her and refusing to help her out after falling on hard times and ending up homeless with her now-wife Andi Autumn. Why? She claims it’s because she’s a lesbian. So, so awful. You can hear what Etta had to say (below):

So when the video from Jackie’s film went viral on Twitter, those in the know were quick to fact-check the internet — and drag him for his treatment of his IRL kid. On Wednesday, Forbes released its list of the highest-paid actors in 2019, and the Hobbs & Shaw star came in at number one!

Per the publication, between June 1, 2018 and June 1, 2019, the former professional wrestler raked in a whopping $89.4 million!

Reportedly, the 47-year-old earns $700,000 for each episode of his HBO comedy-drama Ballers, and will collect an upfront salary of up to $23.5 million for his upcoming flick Jumanji: The Next Level  — scheduled to be released this December.

He also reportedly receives seven figures in royalties for his line of clothing, shoes, and headphones with athletic brand Under Armour.

Additionally, according to Forbes, the leading man “commands up to 15% of the pool from high-grossing franchise movies including Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, which had a worldwide box office of $962.1 million.”

In 2018, the actor gave a revealing interview to Esquire before the release of his action movie, Skyscraper.

When asked what he inherited from his dad, Johnson responded, “I got his pure determination and will to succeed,” adding:

He had a tough upbringing – and I mean real tough. His own father died when he was 13 years old, and just a few months later his mum moved her new boyfriend in. Well, actually the first thing I said was “Aw shit!”, then I said the wolf part. Receiving news like this will always serve as my anchoring reminder to continue to work even harder. We not only want to “embrace the grind”, but take the grind to new levels. I learned a few invaluable lessons a long time ago that can help all of you guys out there succeed at whatever it is you’re doing. Greatness is never achieved alone. Surround yourself with hungry, brilliant individuals who not only buy into your philosophy, but who are all willing to work just as hard as you. Power of teamwork. And don’t ever forget where you came from. I was evicted at 14yrs old and completely broke by 23. Every day I wake up as if that eviction notice is right around the corner waiting for me.. which is why I always say, “the wolf is always scratchin’ at the door”. He’s scratchin’ cause he’s hungry and never satisfied. We embrace and respect our past (even if it was f*cked up), but we never let it define our future. Let’s stay hungry and chase that greatness.
