For those who don’t know, the 41-year-old singer’s father, Mathew Knowles, had an affair with actress Alexsandra Wright in the late 2000s – while he was still married to Tina Lawson. She ended up getting pregnant and having their son, Nixon Alexander Knowles. Alexsandra served him legal papers in order to force him to take a paternity test, which inevitably proved he was the dad to Nixon.

When the affair and paternity scandal came to light, Tina and Mathew got a divorce. But his infidelity did more than ruin his marriage — it also ended his relationship with Beyoncé and her sister Solange. The Daddy Lessons removed Mathew as her manager, and the two siblings have been estranged from him ever since. They even refused to attend his wedding with Gena Charmaine in June 2022.

As for Alexsandra and Nixon? The now 13-year-old has no relationship with Beyoncé, and that doesn’t seem to be changing anytime soon. In an interview with The Sun published on Saturday, Alexsandra shared that Queen Bey hasn’t reached out to either of them – despite living only ten miles away in California. And the reason for the lack of contact? The 52-year-old believes their still some healing that needs to be done following the cheating drama:

“She (Beyonce) is a billionaire and just bought the most expensive house in California, ten miles from where we live. But no, there has not been any contact. The pain still needs to heal.”

But unfortunately, Nixon has to suffer the consequences of her and Mathew’s actions. Alexsandra told the outlet her son’s estrangement with Beyoncé hurts, and he often questions why his half-sister doesn’t “love” him:

“My main concern has been dealing with a child that asks, ‘Why doesn’t that person love me? It’s a very human story and I sit in the bathroom and cry sometimes because I just don’t know how to help him be his own person.”

That’s heartbreaking to hear about Nixon. Alexsandra went on to say that he is constantly facing tough questions about his sibling in school:

“People will ask him straight up at school, ‘Are you the brother?’ Whatever they can Google they will ask him directly and even the grown-ups will take pictures of him. Nixon has never had the luxury of being a normal child. Being related to someone famous smothers kids like him and they lose their identity. They are so and so’s brother or stepkid. It’s hard for him to comprehend and he’s a quiet kid and very reserved.”

She continued:

“I tell him, ‘fame does not equal happiness’ so never covet what someone else has’. But it’s hard to see people living as billionaires. What does that kid think when I am working 16 hours a day and trying to get accounts paid? How does it feel? I think Beyonce is a lovely person and she has never done anything to harm me. I don’t want anything from them. I just want my son to be free and to have a happy life.”

Sadly, Beyoncé isn’t the only one with no relationship with Nixon. According to Alexsandra, Mathew has never met his child – although he does pay child support. Despite the sad situation, she holds out hope that Nixon will eventually meet his other family members:

“I believe our children and grandchildren will be much better human beings than we are. They have Snapchat and all that. I think they will find a way to open up and have that conversation.”

The 34-year-old suffered a serious health scare right before she wrote the music for her acclaimed 2019 album, and she created the soundtrack based on her survival — as she was inspired by a voice from inside guiding her way.

On March 1, the singer posted a very heartwarming message on Instagram, addressing some of the struggles — and joyous moments — she faced while working through this time of her life.

She wrote:

“When I first started creating ‘When I Get Home’ I was quite literally fighting for my life…in and out of hospitals (s/out park plaza on Binz! with depleting health and broken spirits asking God to send me a sign I would not only survive, but that if he let me make it out alive, I would step into the light whatever that meant. He begin speaking to me. Half the time I didn’t know where it was coming from. I only knew I had to open the door and honor it.”

Wow. That’s just amazing. And what a way to develop music! Right from the heart.

For anyone who isn’t familiar, in late 2017 Solange was diagnosed with whats known as dysautonomia, a little known autonomic nerve disorder. Her health deteriorated to the point where she had to cancel her 2018 New Year’s Eve performance at AfroPunk Festival which would have been in Johannesburg.

Knowles continued:

“When I listen back, I hear a woman who had only an inkling of what the journey entailed, but didn’t have a clue of why or what the journey would look like. This project has shown me, once you open that door, you can’t go backwards. Believe me I’ve tried saying ‘nah I’m just playing’ so many times, ha. I’m not a big fan of talking about s**t I don’t know yet. I didn’t do much talking during this time because of that.”

Ugh. We completely get that. And it’s so heartbreaking to hear all of this. We can’t even imagine what it must’ve been like suffering from a relatively unknown disease that affects how every part of you feels.

Yet she kept moving on, a true fighter. And her work actually helped her to survive and to keep herself asking the right questions. She explained:

“I make work to answer questions within me, for survival. Sometimes I am asking myself that same question many ways. Sometimes it takes me years. I have to honor that time. This Houston ting moves slow y’all. One day, I’ll tell y’all about the days I’ve had since I opened this door. The things I’ve uncovered. The life long healing I’ve begin. The great divine joy and love I’ve experienced. The stories of my past I’ve survived that I had stored all up in my body…. till it said…. no more. The re-learning. The reckoning. This album led me to all of it.”

We totally get all of this, and we’re looking forward to hearing more about her health struggles as she decides she’s ready to open up.

She concluded by saying:

“I’m so grateful for you guys allowing me the space and time. So so so grateful. Ima be celebrating all week long the coming of home.”

Ugh, well, we’ll be celebrating right along with her!

A new video from grandmother Tina Lawson further proved that the young Ms. Carter has inherited her family’s many talents. While this particular skill is definitely from her momma’s side, Tina claimed it actually reminded her most of aunt Solange Knowles.

Accompanied by a video of Blue going HARD in what appears to be a dance class, the matriarch wrote:

“[This] is Blue but I swear it looks like Solange dancing at this age “

Whew! The talent really did jump out!

Blue’s other accomplishments were recently featured in Beyoncé’s 2020 wrap-up video, including the young girl’s narration of the audiobook for Hair Love and directing her mom’s corny Snoop Dogg joke for the 2020 Wearable Art Gala.

Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries

It’s the wedding heard ’round the world… Kim Kardashian West and Kris Humphries tied the knot in an over-the-top ceremony in 2011, but just 72 days later, the KUWTK star filed for divorce. At the time, the entire thing was seen as a publicity stunt for the Kardashian family’s still relatively new reality TV show. Things must have been really bad behind the scenes, though, because Kim barely made it past two months before being forced to officially split from the NBA star.

For his part, Humphries long threatened litigation over the entire incident, alleging he’d been used as fodder for the fam’s reality TV show, too. Nothing much ever came of it, though, and the pair’s divorce was finalized in April 2013. We look back on this wedding now with amusement, but at the time, this was a really significant scandal. Backlash was so severe that it seemed for a while as though it might derail the Kardashian fam’s rise to reality TV mega fame right then and there. It didn’t, of course, and the fam has only gotten bigger, but the Kris Humphries wedding marked one major mistake for a fam that very, very rarely steps out of line in the public eye. LOLz!

Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson

It was one of the most high-profile cheating scandals ever… in 2012, while dating her Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson, superstar actress Kristen Stewart got caught making out with Rupert Sanders, her Snow White and the Huntsman director. Sanders was married at the time, and had his own fall-out to deal with back at home. Stewart bore the brunt of the public’s reaction to the cheating scandal, and later publicly apologized for her major mistake. The apology was genuine and the remorse worked — for a while, at least — though she and Pattinson eventually called it quits for good a year later, in 2013.

As far as breakups and cheating scandals go, this is the biggest one of the decade in some ways. The media scrutiny on these two was already beyond intense after Twilight‘s release — and then, to have a successful real-life couple come out of the movie, only to have it all end like this. Just… wow. Even Donald Trump was obsessed with this couple for a while!

Amanda Bynes

Amanda Bynes‘ career was on an upward trajectory in the late 2000s, fresh off her long-standing stints on All That and What I Like About You and several movies, like She’s The Man. But behind the scenes, by the time the 2010s hit, it was all bad for the former Nickelodeon star, who was in the beginning stages of a brutal Adderall addiction combined with major mental health issues that had apparently long been simmering. After dropping out of two movies — Post Grad and Hall Pass — Bynes took a hiatus from acting, and the trouble began.

In 2012, she was arrested on DUI charges in West Hollywood, and in 2013, she was charged with reckless endangerment and possession of marijuana during a run-in with the cops in New York City. Later that same year, she set a small fire in front of a random home in Thousand Oaks, California, and was put on a 72-hour involuntary psych hold; she almost lit her dog on fire in the process, as well. Erratic behavior and extremely bizarre tweets followed throughout these years, helping to develop her reputation as remarkably unstable. Eventually, her parents were granted a conservatorship over her affairs, and slowly but surely, things started to get better. In 2018, she revealed she’d been sober for four years thanks to her parents, and in 2019, though she had a scare at the end of the year, she was apparently looking for her own place to live once again.

Bill Cosby

A one-off comment on stage in October 2014 by comedian Hannibal Buress led to the downfall of one of the most iconic comedians and sitcom stars of all time. Mad that Cosby would criticize young black comics, Buress called out long-standing but largely unknown rape and sexual assault allegations against the former Cosby Show star. Buress had been commenting on the allegations as part of his act for months, but for whatever reason, a video of the comic’s comments on that fateful day went viral, and a media firestorm ensued. By the end of 2014, more than 60 women had come forward with credible sexual assault accusations against Cosby — some decades old — and the thoroughly disgraced icon had gone from legend to pariah in a matter of months.

One woman, Andrea Constand, was still within the statute of limitations on her accusations, and Cosby was forced to go to trial, facing three counts of aggravated indecent assault against the former Temple University employee. In 2018, Cosby was found guilty and sentenced to three to ten years in state prison. It was a remarkably light punishment relative to how many women came forward with horrific stories about their time with Cosby. Even to this day, it’s almost unimaginable how a family-friendly TV icon could have fallen so far — and yet, here we are.

Solange Knowles vs. JAY-Z

In May of 2014, leaked surveillance camera footage showed JAY-Z being physically attacked by Beyoncé‘s little sis Solange Knowles in an elevator after a Met Gala party. Queen Bey stood passively off to the side as Solange punched, kicked, and slapped the rapper, and a bodyguard did his best to break things up.

Immediately, fan theories swirled about what the cause of the commotion could possibly be. The fallout lasted weeks, with cheating rumors flying around and plenty of other reactions from every corner of the celeb universe. The trio eventually released a statement about the incident, and Beyoncé even mentioned it on her Flawless remix, further solidifying the legendary moment. It unquestionably was instrumental in raising Solange’s public profile, and even years later the girls’ father still gets a kick out of the video. No pun intended…

Donald Trump

Though the infamous October 2016 Access Hollywood tape leak alongside sycophantic TV personality Billy Bush may be one of the most famous moments here, pretty much everything The Donald did this decade was scandalous. From years of his s**tty and inappropriate birther accusations against Barack Obama, to Trump’s own improbable candidacy and eventual underdog victory to reach the White House, the 2010s were (unfortunately) good to The Donald… and bad for the rest of us. Even Billy Bush made a regrettable (and forgettable) TV comeback after he’d decided he’d waited on the sideline long enough.

Fast forward to 2019 and Trump is still going strong, despite being the third president ever to be impeached by the House of Representatives for self-dealing conduct during a meeting with leaders from Ukraine. Forget consequences, though; The Donald has proven himself to be largely free of those, as he uses the new year to kickstart his 2020 re-election campaign. When will it end?!

#MeToo Movement

Activist Tarana Burke first coined the term ‘Me Too’ way back in 2006 when referring to widespread sexual assault and sexual misconduct, but usage of the phrase — and its hashtag — took off into the stratosphere in 2017 and 2018. Those two years were a particularly powerful time for women in the entertainment industry and around the globe, as men in power were called to account for their allegedly inappropriate ways. Accusations against high-profile people ranged from rape and sexual assault claims, to inappropriate touching and sexual misconduct.

Dozens of men like Harvey Weinstein, Bill O’Reilly, Matt Lauer, Louis CK, and even Kevin Spacey saw careers pause or come to an outright end as part of the fall-out from the movement. Thankfully, hundreds of women finally had their voices heard — and deservingly so, after years of repeated sexual abuse and misconduct in some of the worst cases. The #MeToo movement — and its sister initiative, Time’s Up — can’t un-do all the bad things that have happened to women in the entertainment industry and elsewhere, but at least it brought to the forefront a frank and honest discussion about power dynamics and inappropriate behavior.

R. Kelly

In a way somewhat similar to Bill Cosby’s situation, R. Kelly had long been dogged by decades of sexual assault and misconduct allegations. New evidence came to light in 2019, though, and the R&B singer was finally indicted on a variety of sex crime charges, eventually facing both federal and state prosecution for his alleged actions against multiple women. A month later, the singer gave an intense interview to CBS host Gayle King, insisting on his innocence and further charging an already emotional situation.

The peak of the scandal hit when the documentary series Surviving R. Kelly debuted on television later in 2019, reportedly enraging the singer and his team. A second part of the doc series is now set to be released in early 2020, too. Kelly has spent most of the year in jail while he awaits his trial dates in 2020; women who are accused of being his sex slaves have since come out to support him publicly, further muddying up what’s already been a remarkably shady case. Whenever it ends, Kelly may yet go down in history as one of the most prolific predators to ever work in the entertainment industry. Horrifying…

Jussie Smollett

Empire star Jussie Smollett made the wrong kind of headlines early in 2019 when he reported what at the time appeared to be a violent, racist attack against him on the streets of Chicago by men wearing ‘Make America Great Again’ hats. Very quickly, police sussed out inconsistencies in the actor’s story, and it was later alleged the entire thing was a staged, fake attack. Political commentators and public figures from around the world weighed in on it, and for weeks, Smollett’s bizarre actions were the talk of the nation.

The actor was sued by the city of Chicago at one point, in a bid for the government to receive pay back for the hours they seemingly wasted on his case; he counter-sued them later in the year. Smollett also faced his own criminal battle in regards to the alleged hoax, but state prosecutors eventually dropped the charges against him, cutting him at least a bit of a break. He was on the outs with Empire producers pretty much immediately afterwards, too, but by the end of 2019 there was an outside shot they’d have him back for the show’s sixth season. What a wild time…

College admissions scam

In early 2019, federal prosecutors announced the results of a massive investigation leading to dozens of indictments in a wide-reaching high-profile scam allegedly being perpetrated by rich people to gain admission for their children into some of America’s most prestigious universities. Among the indictments were celebs Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman Macy, who were both accused of bribery and fraud in attempts to allegedly gain college admission for their respective daughters. Immediately the scandal rocked social media, and its fallout stayed in the headlines for months. Loughlin’s Full House character, Aunt Becky, quickly became a meme, and both women deleted all their social media profiles amid the incredible backlash.

Before the year’s end, Huffman Macy had agreed to a plea deal over the act of bribing an SAT administrator with $15,000 to help improve her daughter’s test scores. The Desperate Housewives actress ended up serving less than two weeks in a minimum security federal prison in northern California as a result; disgraceful though it may be, at least the drama was over for her before the end of the year.

Loughlin, on the other hand, chose to fight the feds in court alongside her husband, Mossimo Giannulli. The couple will have their day in court at some point in 2020, and the stakes are high! Forget about the deal Huffman Macy cut, because the accusation against the Fuller House star involves a significantly bigger bribe ($500,000!) and major deceit (fake rowing team bios!) with a major institution (the University of Southern California). Throw in daughter Olivia Jade‘s fledgling vlog career on YouTube, and you’ve got MAJOR family drama. Oh, what rich people will do with their money…

Honorable Mention…

It was damn near impossible for us to decide on ten celeb scandals to rule them all, y’all.

Seriously — we debated back and forth for days, and ultimately left out a lot of salacious and controversial moments, like Paula Deen getting caught using the n-word, and the discovery of Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s love child. There was the whole celeb nude photo hacking scandal, of course, as well as particularly bad behavior from men like Josh Duggar, Hank Baskett, Jake and Logan Paul, etc.

We nearly included more breakups, like the splits of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, or Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Considering the jail time involved, you might even be able to make a case for the ongoing saga surrounding Joe Giudice and estranged reality TV wife Teresa Giudice, too! And that crazy sex cult Allison Mack was involved with was widely considered, of course. Who doesn’t love reading about a sex cult?!

The Kardashians figured big in these scandals, as to be expected. We nearly included Kanye West‘s infamous comments on slavery, and gave a lot of thought to possibly adding in the love triangle drama that went down between Khloé Kardashian, Tristan Thompson, and Jordyn Woods. Kendall Jenner‘s poor choice of commercials was considered here, as was Caitlyn Jenner‘s brutal tell-all book fall-out. Kimye’s battle against Taylor Swift, full of leaked phone calls and snake emojis, was another one heavily considered. And Taylor’s own saga with Scooter Braun and Scott Borchetta may play out more in the next decade to come.

Lamar Odom‘s near-death experience was one more particularly significant story from the 2010s, as was Roseanne Barr‘s epic racist collapse. Kathy Griffin‘s staged beheading of Trump turned out bigger than we’d ever expected, too. Downfalls both serious (Whitney Houston‘s sudden death) and frivolous (Ariana Grande‘s donut-licking incident) also made the master list.

And s**t, who could forget #OscarsSoWhite?! And Kevin Hart‘s hosting hubbub?? Oh, and what about the colossal f**k-up in 2017 when La La Land was incorrectly named best picture, even though Moonlight had actually won the award?! That happened not even three years ago, and yet it feels like a lifetime… CRAZY!!!

Do you see what we mean now? So many options to choose from — and so tough to keep it at ten!

Some of Solange Knowles’ fans have taken her lengthy breakup announcement and spun it into a false story involving her cheating on her soon-to-be ex husband Alan Ferguson — and the singer is, unsurprisingly, not here for it.

As we reported, Beyoncé’s little sister took to social media on Friday to reveal she and the music video director were calling it quits after five years of marriage. She wrote in an Instagram post: 

“The past 2 years have brought me more physical and spiritual transition and evolution than ever before. My body left me with no choice but to listen and be still. Within that stillness I begin my journey in confronting my worst enemy, fear.”

But soon, Solange was confronted by her second worst enemy: fans trying to Da Vinci Code her message for (nonexistent) subtextual clues!

This effort led to a handful of readers interpreting her words “my body left me with no choice” as a confession to cheating. One fan chirped:

“‘My body left me with no choice’ Solange just raised the excuse bar high for cheating”

And so on and so forth.

The 33-year-old eventually caught wind of this fan theory and quickly shut it down, writing on Twitter:

“Yo, John [Bogaard] is my former co-manager y’all gotta chill. I’m not about to be silenced into letting complete lies narrate my life. To take my words ‘my body left me with no choice but to listen and be still’ after speaking about my health journey…which has already been painful enough and turn [it] into an interpretation of unfaithfulness is just…wow.” 

In a followup tweet, Solange took the high road while doubling down on her defense. She wrote:

“I hate to even give this energy, but I will not let something so untrue follow me when I’ve tried to lead my life in truth. I hope y’all spread this with the same conviction and energy that [you] did that false narrative. Much love.”

We can only hope her fans follow through, because the star was adamant about taking control of her own story in her initial announcement.

She wrote at the time:

“11 years ago I met a phenomenal man who changed every existence of my life. Early this year we separated and parted ways, (and tho it ain’t nan no body business ) I find it necessary to protect the sacredness of my personal truth and to live in it fully just as I have before and will continue to do. It is unfair to not have power of your own story as you shape and mould and rewrite it yourself.”

Sometimes, a few rewrites are necessary!

More than a handful of famous couples have called it quits over the past few weeks, the most recent being Solange and Alan Ferguson.

The Don’t Touch My Hair singer took to Instagram on Friday to announce she and the music video director were separating after five years of marriage. She wrote in a message to her fans: 

“11 years ago i met a phenomenal man who changed every existence of my life. early this year we separated and parted ways, (and tho it ain’t nan no body business [crying emoji]) i find it necessary to protect the sacredness of my personal truth and to live in it fully just as I have before and will continue to do.”

Live your truth, gurl!

Beyoncé’s younger sis isn’t the only star who spent Halloween going through a breakup. 

Other celeb couples who called it quits in October include actor Ian Ziering, who just announced his split from wife Erin Ludwig after nine years of marriage; Niecy Nash, who recently filed from divorce from her husband of eight years; Demi Burnett, who broke off her engagement with Bachelor in Paradise costar Kristian Haggerty before Halloween; and Rosie O’Donnell, who reportedly split from her police officer fiancé Elizabeth Rooney earlier in the month.

Ariana Grande’s #Donutgate

Before she was laughing about writing love songs regarding her romance with Ricky Alvarez, Ariana Grande was licking donuts with her bandana-wearing beau in July 2015. The two were caught on camera looking innocent enough in a donut shop with friends, until the thank u, next singer decided to lick a donut on a tray. Icky!

To make matters work, the then-22-year-old randomly exclaimed (below) as an employee brought out a new array of sweets:

“What the f**k is that? I hate Americans. I hate America. That’s disgusting.”

Obviously, the incident was quickly dubbed #DonutGate and went viral, causing Grande to issue an apology for her anti-American remarks:

“As an advocate for healthy eating, food is very important to me, and I sometimes get upset by how freely we as Americans eat and consume things without giving any thought to the consequences that it has on our health and society as a whole. That being said, let me once again apologize if I have offended anyone with my poor choice of words.”

But you were in a donut shop?!

And you licked a donut without thinking about it!

Ari never really addressed why she decided to lick the pastry. There are some things we’ll just never know!

Justin Bieber Calls Anne Frank A Belieber

In April 2013, Justin Bieber provoked massive online criticism after visiting the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam when he wrote a controversial message in the guestbook:

“Truly inspiring to be able to come here. Anne was a great girl. Hopefully she would have been a belieber.”

The then 19-year-old’s suggestion was that if Anne had been alive at the time, she would have been a “belieber,” AKA a devoted fan of the musician. His bad boy behavior at this time was seriously inexcusable!!

Kanye West Calls Out George Bush

While appearing alongside Mike Myers on a national telethon to raise money for victims of Hurricane Katrina, Kanye West went COMPLETELY off script (above), ranting about the natural disaster, finishing off his impassioned speech with:

“George Bush doesn’t care about black people.”

In conversation with Matt Lauer, the former President reflected on the rapper’s September 2005 insult:

“MATT LAUER: About a week after the storm hit NBC aired a telethon asking for help for the victims of Katrina. We had celebrities coming in to ask for money. And I remember it vividly because I hosted it. And at one part of the evening I introduced Kanye West. Were you watching?

PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH: Nope.

MATT LAUER: You remember what he said?

PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH: Yes, I do. He called me a racist.

MATT LAUER: Well, what he said, “George Bush doesn’t care about black people.”

PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH: That’s — “he’s a racist.” And I didn’t appreciate it then. I don’t appreciate it now. It’s one thing to say, “I don’t appreciate the way he’s handled his business.” It’s another thing to say, “This man’s a racist.” I resent it, it’s not true, and it was one of the most disgusting moments in my Presidency.”

Unfortunately for Ye, this wasn’t the first time his politics got the best of him! Who would’ve thought after this he’d end up defending Donald Trump one day? We wonder what George thinks about this now!!

Kristen Stewart Cheats On Robert Pattinson

Twihards everywhere were CRUSHED when news broke in June 2012 of Kristen Stewart cheating on her on and off screen love Robert Pattinson — with Rupert Sanders, a married man, father of two, AND director of her flick Snow White and the Huntsman. To make things even messier, Sanders’ wife Liberty Ross played KStew’s MOTHER in the movie. Ouch!!

As a result, both Kristen and Rupert’s respective relationships came to an end as they each issued public apologies — but we can only imagine some Twilight fans never looked at the Bella Swan portrayer the same again!

Even Donald Trump famously weighed in with his unwanted opinion!

Robert Pattinson should not take back Kristen Stewart. She cheated on him like a dog & will do it again–just watch. He can do much better!

Justin Bieber Pees In A Bucket

Apparently, Justin Bieber wasn’t exactly potty trained at age 19. A video (above) was obtained of the musician relieving himself into a mop bucket in an unidentified NYC restaurant in July 2013. His spectating friends shared (below) while observing the bathroom break:

“Quick little piss break, you know? Quickest restroom we could get to. We swagger, you know? This is just a little walk to piss. That’s the coolest spot to piss, you know? We will forever remember that. You’re not going to remember him pissing in the restroom. Everybody does that. We the f**king wild kids, yo! Wild kids in this b**ch!”

As the What Do You Mean? artist and his crew reentered the restaurant, he yelled:

“F**k Bill Clinton!”

What’d he do to you, Biebs?!

Solange Knowles Beats Down JAY-Z

This took your classic family squabble to a whole new level! Following a 2014 Met Gala afterparty, footage showed Solange yelling at JAY-Z in an elevator wildly hitting and kicking him before a security guard and even Beyoncé attempted to step in.

Ten days after the May incident and following PLENTY of speculation as to what caused the cat fight, the trio released a joint statement to the Associated Press:

“As a result of the public release of the elevator security footage from Monday, May 5th, there has been a great deal of speculation about what triggered the unfortunate incident. But the most important thing is that our family has worked through it. Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred. They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public. They both have apologized to each other and we have moved forward as a united family. The reports of Solange being intoxicated or displaying erratic behavior throughout that evening are simply false. At the end of the day families have problems and we’re no different. We love each other and above all we are family. We’ve put this behind us and hope everyone else will do the same.”

Winona Ryder’s Five Finger Discount

Way back before her Stranger Things days, Winona Ryder‘s career was almost destroyed by a shoplifting scandal in 2001.

In a candid chat with Porter magazine in 2016, the Heathers alum opened up (below) about the personal struggles she was dealing with when caught using a five finger discount at Saks Fifth Avenue in Beverly Hills in December 2001:

“Psychologically, I must have been at a place where I just wanted to stop. I won’t get into what happened, but it wasn’t what people think…. And it wasn’t like the crime of the century!”

She continued, sharing:

“But it allowed me time that I really needed, where I went back to San Francisco and got back into things that… I just had other interests, frankly.”

One year after the incident, she was sentenced to three years probation, 480 hours of community service, $6,355 in restitution to Saks, $3,700 in fines, and was ordered to attend drug and psychological counseling. So glad she’s made such great progress since then!

Ashlee Simpson Lip-Syncs On ‘SNL’

How could we ever forget Ashlee Simpson‘s Saturday Night Live flub? The star attempted to pick up the pieces after her Pieces of Me performance flopped in October 2004, and now looks back on the then-embarrassing moment fondly.

Chatting with E! News in 2018, she admitted the infamous fail has since made her a better person:

“It’s definitely not difficult to talk about…that was a very long time ago. It’s something that happened to me and things in life happen to you and they make you stronger and they make you a better performer, a better person. I think things like that build your character and your strength and it’s how you handle them.”

Prince Harry’s Naked Las Vegas Romp

Before he was a married man, Prince Harry had quite the prankster past! His crown jewels and bare butt were on display in August 2012 while on a boys’ trip to Las Vegas, and things certainly got sinful.

Apparently, the then 27-year-old wasn’t too good at playing strip pool and ended up in his birthday suit, even hugging a fully nude woman! In a 2013 interview, he apologized for his wild romp, admitting he was ashamed of his decisions:

“At the end of the day I probably let myself down, I let my family down, I let other people down… But it was probably a classic example of me probably being too much army, and not enough prince. It’s a simple case of that.”

We’re glad Harry has since cleaned up his act, but we’ll always have the memories of the young bachelor. Remember, what happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas!

One Direction Caught Smoking Weed

Good boys gone bad! In May 2014, while on the Latin America leg of their tour with One Direction, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson let loose with friends, smoking marijuana and joking about their drug use in a leaked video. While Liam Payne, Harry Styles, and Niall Horan were not present in the car, Mr. Payne seemed to take some responsibility for his bandmates’ actions, tweeting:

“I love my boys and maybe things have gone a little sideways I apologise for that.We are only in our 20’s we all do stupid things at this age”

“We all have a lot of growing up to do in an extreme circumstance I’m not making excuse but it’s fact we are gunna fall short somewhere”

“Hopefully we stand the test of time an get it right in the end I don’t take this for granted and im extremely grateful to be here doing this”

“Thank you to everyone who has stuck with us through this just know that we love you guys for it and it means the world”

However sincere the apology may have been, it didn’t go over too well with Directioner parents, who claimed the reefer scandal tarnished the boys then-squeaky images, and began selling some concert tickets in mass amounts to prevent their kids from seeing 1D. Let this be a lesson that next time you’re going to light up, do it without cameras!
